What Host Families Provide
Hosts are providing a home base — not serving as ballet instructors, camp counselors, or full-time entertainment for the student.
A Furnished Bedroom
A clean, comfortable sleeping space with reasonable privacy and access to household facilities.
Meals
Breakfast and dinner each day, plus ingredients and kitchen access so the student can prepare and pack lunch.
Transportation
Drop-off at Lucymont by 9:30 AM and pickup at 7:00 PM Monday–Friday. Saturday transportation TBD.
Laundry & Household Access
Reasonable access to laundry, bathroom facilities, Wi-Fi, and normal household amenities.
A Supportive Home Environment
A safe and welcoming place where the dancer can rest and recharge between demanding days of training and performance.
Adage-Managed Placements
Adage Ballet Academy administers the Host Family Housing Program so that dancers and host families have a consistent, organized experience.

Adage will:
— Recruit and screen prospective host families
— Match students with approved households
— Collect housing payments from participating dancers
— Pay hosts the established $400 weekly stipend
— Provide written housing expectations and emergency procedures
— Share relevant student information before arrival
— Facilitate introductions between hosts and student families
— Remain available for significant placement concerns during the program
All host families are carefully screened and approved by Adage Ballet Academy to help ensure a safe, supportive residential experience.
Whenever possible, placements will consider household composition, pets, allergies, dietary needs, transportation, and other relevant compatibility factors.
Who can become
a host?
Local households in New Castle and surrounding communities who can provide the required accommodations, meals, transportation, and supportive home environment.
Do I need ballet experience?
No. Hosts do not need any dance background.
Will I meet the student beforehand?
Hosts and student families will be introduced before the dancer arrives so they can communicate and discuss household expectations.
Do I need to have children at home?
No. Retirees, empty nesters, couples, individuals, and families may all be considered.
How long is the commitment?
The Summer Intensive Festival runs June 28–July 31, 2027. Final residential arrival and departure dates will be provided before placements are confirmed.
Can a dancer walk to Lucymont?
Potentially. For approved homes within safe walking distance, transportation requirements may be adjusted with Adage and parent/guardian approval.
How old are
the dancers?
Summer Intensive Festival participants are generally ages 11–20.
What does the
stipend cover?
Approved hosts receive $400 per week, or $2,000 for the five-week program, to help offset food, transportation, utilities, household expenses, and the responsibility involved in hosting.
What if there is a problem with the placement?
Adage will remain available for significant housing concerns and will work with the host and student family to determine an appropriate solution.

Become Part of the Festival
For many young dancers, living away from home for a summer intensive is as formative as the training itself. A welcoming host family can give a dancer the stability and sense of community that allows them to thrive throughout the five weeks.
Five weeks. One young artist. A meaningful role in New Castle’s growing arts community.
